Granite Paving Stones

If you’re looking for a high-end finish with plenty of style Blue Black Granite Paving is a perfect choice! As a hard-wearing natural stone, the grey granite slabs are suitable for any area with high footfall due to their durability, non-slip and scratch-resistant properties. Well-known for being robust yet stunning, granite pavers are ideal for use on patios, paths and around pools in any domestic or commercial project. Our Blue Black Granite is mid-grey in colour and will appear darker when wet, with the surface of each slab featuring a range of blue, black, white and grey speckles.

What Is A Flamed Surface?

The lightly flamed surface texture of each granite paver helps the stone to retain its non-slip properties underfoot, even when wet and is achieved by heating the surface of the slabs, causing some of the crystals within the stone to shatter and leaving a textured surface which is ideal for exterior paving.

Shot Blasted Granite Paving

A shot-blasted surface adds an extra level of slip-resistance to the stone and is created by peppering the slabs with small, steel beads at a high velocity to remove a fine layer from the surface. The shot blasting process adds an even degree of texturing to the surface and provides extra grip underfoot. Our granite paving features machine-cut edges for a sleek finish and each slab is calibrated to 20mm in thickness.

Sealing Granite Paving

It’s generally advised to seal granite paving to help prevent any staining, as well as helping to prevent the growth of any moss or algae. You may want to consider sealing your granite slabs, especially if your stone is light in colour, as any stains will be more visible. However, sealing is not compulsory and there is a wide range of sealing products available which will provide various results. Some sealants will simply seal and protect, whereas others can be used to enhance the colour of your slabs. Sealing your granite patio will also help to protect against other general wear such as fading which can sometimes occur over long periods. As for when to apply a sealer, there are no specific guidelines and most landscapers and tradespersons will have their own tried and tested methods. Some people choose to seal their paving slabs before laying to prevent any staining during the laying process and others prefer to leave their stone unsealed for up to a year, allowing the granite to weather naturally before applying a sealant. We always advise speaking to a local tradesperson who will be able to assess the many variables within your environment and offer specific advice for your project. We offer a range of sealing and cleaning products here which are all suitable for use on granite paving stones.

Natural Colours & Variations

Granite products are entirely natural and will feature variations in colour, tone and pattern. This is a feature of the natural stone and the exact colours you will receive can never be pre-determined. Take a look at the full range of product images for a great overview of some of the natural colour variations possible. Colours will appear more vibrant when wet and subtler before installation and when the stone is dry.
