With a slip-resistance rating of R11, our non-slip porcelain paving will retain its grip underfoot, even when wet! As non-porous slabs, moisture won’t penetrate the surface, helping to prevent any build-up of moss or algae and saving you time and money! Porcelain Paving will transform your garden with its range of stunning colours, designed to look just like a natural stone, but with all the added benefits of a state-of-the-art option.
High-Quality, Non-Slip Porcelain Paving
Non-slip Porcelain Paving is a durable, state-of-the-art paving option with a huge number of benefits and is suited to a wide range of uses. Our porcelain slabs are suitable for patios, pathways and even driveways due to the extremely durable nature of the tile. Vitrified Porcelain is also suited to interior use and can even be used for bathrooms and around swimming pools or water features without becoming slippery! The lightly textured non-slip surface provides added safety to any project and the non-slip rating of R11 makes the slabs perfect for any family garden or even a larger commercial project and will maintain their non-slip qualities even when wet.
Outdoor porcelain paving is robust and long-lasting with a stain and scratch-resistant surface, making it the perfect choice of low-maintenance garden paving! You won’t need to worry about any excess rainwater or accidental spillages as the low-maintenance paving slabs can simply be wiped clean with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or spills, saving you time and money! For added protection, we recommend using the LTP Porcelain Tile Protector to help release anything which may have dried onto the slabs.
Traditional Colours & Modern Benefits
Choose from our wide selection of colours to find the style of non-slip porcelain paving for you. The options range from the dark and striking tones within our Black and Nero Porcelain which will make a statement in any design. One of our most popular options is the Silver Grey Porcelain which offers some lighter and more neutral tones which will provide the perfect backdrop to any modern or traditional patio and is often used as a modern alternative to Granite. If you’re looking for something a little brighter still, the light and elegant tones within the Ivory and White Porcelain Paving will be sure to brighten up any dark areas to create an added sense of space to your design.
The Porcelain Paving Manufacturing Process
Porcelain paving is made from a mix of clay, sand and minerals baked at a high temperature. The resulting paving slabs are non-porous and hard-wearing. Once fired, each slab is ground and polished, ensuring they are of a consistent size and colour. This makes the porcelain paving tiles easier to lay and means that your patio will maintain a consistent look. If you are looking for a highly polished finish, porcelain is the ideal choice!
The consistency of the vitrified porcelain paving also makes it easier to take flooring from inside to outside the home. This means you can significantly extend your living space and create an alfresco haven.
Porcelain slabs are highly durable when you compare them to other outdoor paving options. They are resistant to stains, mould and mildew, making porcelain paving the perfect solution for high-traffic areas such as patios and pathways and driveways.
How Are Non Slip Porcelain Tiles Tested?
The R11 non-slip rating is a key indicator of a tile’s slip resistance and helps to prevent slips and falls, which is critical for safety. The tiles are subjected to four different test scenarios before being given a R rating for slip resistance.
The DIN 51130 Ramp Test sees a tile placed on an inclined ramp, where a test operator wearing standardised footwear walks back and forth on the tile surface. The ramp’s angle is gradually increased until the operator begins to slip. This test is repeated barefoot, known as DIN 51097 Barefoot Ramp Test.
The tiles also undergo the Pendulum Test (BS 7976) and Static Coefficient of Friction Test (ASTM C1028). In the pendulum test, a pendulum device with a rubber slider attached is swung over the surface, and the friction between the tile and the rubber slider slows the pendulum’s swing. The distance the pendulum travels indicates the amount of slip resistance. The friction test measures the force required to start moving an object under dry and wet conditions to simulate real-world scenarios.
By choosing R11-rated tiles, you invest in safety and convenience, making them a smart choice for any space. Their ability to provide slip resistance without compromising on aesthetics or ease of maintenance makes them a popular and practical option for various applications and are safe, even in wet conditions, providing peace of mind for all the family.
